The short answer
Jávea gets some of the strongest sunshine in Europe, so each panel produces a lot of electricity. When that electricity replaces power you would otherwise buy at around €0.22/kWh, a system usually pays for itself within five to eight years and keeps saving for decades after that.
The homes that benefit most are those lived in for much of the year, with air conditioning, a pool pump or a heat pump running during daylight hours.
What it typically costs
As a guide, a 3 kWp system for an apartment or small villa is around €3,600–€5,000 installed, a 5 kWp system for a two-to-three bed villa around €5,500–€7,000, and a 10 kWp system for a large villa with a pool around €11,000–€14,000. Battery storage adds roughly €500–€800 per kWh of capacity.
Your exact price depends on roof type, access, cable runs and the equipment chosen, which is why we always confirm a fixed price after a survey.
When solar is a poor fit
Heavy shading from pines or neighbouring buildings, a north-facing roof with no alternative space, or a holiday home that sits empty most of the year can all stretch the payback. A roof needing repair should be fixed before panels go on.
In those cases we will say so — sometimes insulation, better windows or a heat pump is the smarter first step.
Does it help the energy certificate?
On-site renewable electricity can improve a home's energy rating, because the property needs less energy from the grid. The final rating is always set by the certifying technician, so we plan upgrades with the certificate in mind rather than promising a letter.
Common questions
How long do solar panels last?
Quality panels are typically warrantied to keep producing well for 25 years or more. Inverters usually need replacing once during that time.
Do I need a battery?
Not always. A battery helps if you use a lot of power in the evening; if most of your use is during the day, panels alone often give the faster payback.
Is it worth it for a holiday home?
It can be, especially if the home is rented out or has a pool, but the payback is longer when the property is empty for long periods. We check your bills before recommending anything.
